Unfortunately, this course isn’t suitable for complete beginners. You’ll need a basic knowledge of garment construction, because this is a pattern hacking course and we won’t be covering sewing techniques. But if you’ve already sewn a few garments using our patterns and instructions, you’ll be able to take the course.
If you don’t have any sewing experience yet, we recommend starting with our Fundamental Sewing Course. It will help you build the essential sewing skills, and then you’ll be ready to move on to pattern hacking.

Yes! It’s nice to have one, but it’s absolutely not required. In the course, we explain how to work with scaled-down patterns and hack patterns without a dress form.
In the course, you’ll get 6 basic blocks: a dress with a waist seam, a dress without a waist seam, pants, a skirt, a blazer, and a coat. All the blocks come in every size and height. You’re also welcome to use any patterns you already have as you work through the course.
If you notice any fit issues, our mentors will help you fit the basic blocks to your body, so you can hack them later without any extra adjustments. You’ll get a great fit.
